so i was just taking a little dinner break (and i guess now i am taking a blogging break, but after this it's straight on the thesis land) and i turned on the tv to drown out the annoying laughs from the bar people outside my window (really there is this one guy with the most grating laugh-and he must live at this bar because i hear him all the time). what was my point . . . oh yeah, i turned on the tv and to my delight austen city limits had cat power on. i love cat power. she was pretty much the perfect thesis break music.
i guess i have never actually seen her perform though. she is hilarious! full out interpretive dances . . . it was slightly hard to watch but of course looking away was out of the question. so then i wondered if she was doing it on purpose--some sort of image?? or if it was authentic movement. in my expert dance opinion (oh yeah right) it didn't look too forced so then i started thinking about all of the other fantastic musicians/singers who are just weird movers . . . do they dance like that when they are not singing? would they sing the same if they weren't moving? i don't really have much of a point here, it was just funny. how does jacob dance when he is being musicy?
someone should write a dance/movement tx thesis about the rolling stones--mick was a pretty *interesting* dancer . . .
one more baby mick picture for good measure . . .

dear baby mick jagger, in your golden fleece diaper, please help cat power to get more authentic dance moves...
I saw a clip on E! that showed one of the Jonas brothers learning "choreography" for his "spur of the moment" singing-rock-moves. It was kind of gross.
Jake moves pretty much like usual when dancing and singing simultaneously. He just moves, wiggles, shimmies, and shuffles in a general jangly sort of rhythm. it really is an amazing sight to behold!
We should start an all-girl band.
p.s. that picture of mick jagger dancing looks alot like my fiancee when he dances....coincidence?
