Check out this footage from Banksy’s Santa’s Ghetto Exhibition in Bethlehem. Ron English, SWOON, and JetSet Graffiti donated artwork to Santa’s Ghetto and traveled there to paint on the Apartheid Wall and work in solidarity with the elusive British artist Banksy.
The effort was made to raise awareness of the horrible reality that faces the Palestinian and Israeli people on a daily basis. Using art as a catalyst for change, these brave artists ventured into a live war-zone to create their unique and distinctive form of street art and make a statement to the world about the horrors of oppression and marginalization of minorities in modern society.
The exhibition raised 1 million dollars for the children of Palestine. For more information or to make a donation to the Santa’s Ghetto project, visit www.santasghetto.com

i love all art that's for a cause--particularly street art!

poem of the day

Mission: to be where I am.
Even in that ridiculous, deadly serious
role--I am the place
where creation is working itself out.

Daybreak, the sparse tree-trunks
are colored now, the frost-bitten
forest flowers form a silent search party
for someone who has vanished in the dark.

But to be where I am. And to wait.
I am anxious, stubborn, confused.
Coming events, they're there already!
I know it. They're outside:

a murmuring crowd outside the gate.
They can pass only one by one.
They want in. Why? They're coming
one by one--I am the turnstile.

a girl and her journal...

I have been amusing myself all morning at how nerdy I am with my journal. Like I told you last night, it seems like I can't think anything through unless I've "journaled" about it, through it, working it out in my brain and in writing symbiotically. I found this cool website that talks about journaling, what it is, how it can be used. I thought that you just might be patient enough with my nerdiness to get a kick out of it; here it is.

So, just a shout out to say hello. Oh, and I had the most amazing cup of coffee this morning. It was one of those perfectly balanced concoctions where everything--the aroma, the temperature, the taste, the cream-to-coffee-ratio, the finish--all comes together to make you smile even as you take a sip. Mmmm.

Happy Wednesday!
