just about a week and a half until you and i are train hopin' travelers.

in the mean time you must down load this.

it appeals to all of my hipster, indie, trip-hop sensibilities and i think you will feel the same.

ah. the fabulousness of new shoes and cute boys. I am congruously happy for your seratonin bursts and your punky new boots. It snowed like a mug here yesterday....and then there was the aforementioned tire-blow out. Yeah, that was fun. I spent the evening last night listening to grandma and then mom talk at about 80 wpm while simultaneously trying to watch ninja warrior with jake and my dad. Needless to day, not the relaxing evening I'd hoped for.

I can't wait till I'm in chicago with your boots and your rays-of-shopping sunshine. And by the way, thanks for reminding me about the whole I'm turning 26 thing...I was happily avoiding it until then.

Thanks. :)

p.s. how many days left till our vaca?

i miss you!!! you're coming here . . .soon . . . just counting down. ah.

well here is a little update of the week.

saturday i bought new rain boots. the heaven's opened and happy rays of sun shone down on me. it has been my mission to replace my beloved pink paisley boots with some new ones--ones that were worthy of that spot . . . and now success. the boots are white with a black print of lacey looking flowers and jagged lines (sort of looks like chaos). the bottoms are pink and there is a lovely pink accent around the top. welcome to my closet my new punky wellies.

sunday's highlight was flirting with an incredibly hansom boy named griffin--oh yes, that's his real name. he was staying with kristin and grant (he is their nephew) so he decided to stop into the store while wandering the neighborhood. so cute . . .

monday was mind freezingly boring. the only notable moment was when i got a compliment about my new rainboots--first day i wore them out and already a compliment.

and today . . . i can't remember if there was anything worth mentioning . . . all the sudden i am sleepy. the rest of the week is looking promising. i am happy for that and not feeling melancholy at all. happy happy serotonin (from wellies and flirting??)

how is your last week of 25 my friend??

boring.

It has been a boring weekend. The fam is all in TN, enjoying 60-degree weather, hiking and some of my favorite coffee shops. I spent the past 72 hours totally fucking with my sleeping patterns, grading papers in batches of 5 and taking breaks to do research and gather materials for the first draft of my Lit Review. Plus, I think the dry, frigid air has successfully extracted all of the moisture from my skin! Great, so not only will I be perma-hunched from slavishly writing, "this is great, but can you give more specific examples?" over and over, but I'll also be shriveled from winter freeze-dry. Awesome.
Happy End-of-Weekend!

i was reading this article for my thesis research (i'm a sucker for anything that says authenticity, beauty, or outsider art) and i really like the last paragraph. thought you might like it too . . .
Is the demotion of beauty just another fashion generated by the popularity of “Outsider Art” and the increasing appreciation of artifacts by the eccentric and insane? Or is it the last gasp by a bunch of “angry white guys” sticking it to the art world man, the last of a waning breed of aesthetic “bad boys”? Have the perfect simulations of the computer-generated world made the “ugly real” more desirable than the “synthetically beautiful?” Perhaps a more provocative question would be: if authenticity can be faked, at what point does the sincerity of its simulation raise it to the level of the authentically authentic?

good movie...

So, I went to the library to rent some filmage, because I'm poor, and can't afford to go out or rent a movie. I saw this one:

and it was really really good: slow, but on purpose I think. It was very rich in detail, sort of like it was shot with a poet's eye. Made me want to study more sylvia plath.

here is a cool pick of a rock and lichen...makes me yearn for spring with its fresh, restrained colors.

This is a collage that Jamica made of pics from jake's art show saturday. It was fun, but not as fun without you! You should check out mica's myspace--she has some other nifty little shots there, too.

miss you.
