annoying cubs fan bingo

i kind of hate cubs fans. it all started two summers ago when i was working at heartland and would ride the redline home. on game days the train car would be full of red and blue clad, beer drinking, often lost cubs fans!! ugh. now i live a hop away from wrigglyville and think i am developing trichotillomania from being around these fools!

anyway, i have decide to develop a little game so that i don't go bald. i'm gonna stereotype and break all the cubs fans into categories--inorder to create annoying cubs fan bingo!!

i'm gonna have to work on the categories a little more and please feel free to add to this list if you think of anything.

frat boy
always wasted and loud no matter how much he has been drinking

trashy girl
probably pretending to know more about the sport than she does. often wearing a random jersey or a cubs t-shirt with a denim miniskirt and tennis shoes. 50 bonus points if you see the trashy girl with her over-processed hair shooting out of a visor!

definitely a spot for people with cubs tattoos

people who dress their babies in cubs attire. sometimes its cute and sometimes it creepy . . .
(haha wrong cub)

desserts spelled backwards

This is how I feel right now:

...imagine the papers are all things that need to be done, wedding to-dos and snafus, appointments, birth control, hormones, syllabi to be written, credit card bills, etc.

ok. this picture just made me laugh. laugh beats stress, right?

doesn't this look delicious? i wish my brain and my shoulder knots were doing this right now. Ah, rest! i hardly know thee!!! but i want to...

Friday, June 13, 2008

so i was just taking a little dinner break (and i guess now i am taking a blogging break, but after this it's straight on the thesis land) and i turned on the tv to drown out the annoying laughs from the bar people outside my window (really there is this one guy with the most grating laugh-and he must live at this bar because i hear him all the time). what was my point . . . oh yeah, i turned on the tv and to my delight austen city limits had cat power on. i love cat power. she was pretty much the perfect thesis break music.

i guess i have never actually seen her perform though. she is hilarious! full out interpretive dances . . . it was slightly hard to watch but of course looking away was out of the question. so then i wondered if she was doing it on purpose--some sort of image?? or if it was authentic movement. in my expert dance opinion (oh yeah right) it didn't look too forced so then i started thinking about all of the other fantastic musicians/singers who are just weird movers . . . do they dance like that when they are not singing? would they sing the same if they weren't moving? i don't really have much of a point here, it was just funny. how does jacob dance when he is being musicy?
someone should write a dance/movement tx thesis about the rolling stones--mick was a pretty *interesting* dancer . . .

one more baby mick picture for good measure . . .

how funny

I just got home and finished leaving you a message about how I had an intense afternoon of missing you. It might have started when I made myself coffee this morning, and grabbed my DIA coffee mug. I am jealous of your perfect cup of coffee, and I want to go to the DIA with you.

fashion-as-art

saw it. loved it. in a word: fabulous.
you must go see it.
The funny thing about SATC, is that it is wholly confusing to males. It totally escapes them that a show/film about women who are friends and who also talk about sex is actually an anomaly--and empowering for females. Anywhoo, it was a delightful love story--with fabulous shoes! Also, a movie that I must see with you (no exceptions!) is the new Baz Luhrmann, Australia. The *preview* made me cry. Damn you, Baz, and your sweepingly poetic and gorgeously pathos-ridden ways!!!

SATC dazzled me with fashion. It was a panoply of shapes and colors and textures manifest in clothing, and it made me want to dance. I wish that I could've found for you a picture of a particular blue dress that SJP's character wears in the film. I made my jaw ache it was so great. I went a search for it, and found this Vivienne Westwood cape instead...it is indeed, the cat's meow.

Also in my searches, I found that Yves Saint Laurent has passed away. This pic is from a tribute to his 'legacy', which includes helping to give Tyra Banks her start (which I guess I can forgive him for). The image was so artful in a 60's, avante-guarde, Holly Golightly kind of way, I just had to post it.

love to you--see you Saturday!
